Turning 20, getting sick again and getting better
It's been a while since I've updated. We all had a pretty relaxed week of school. Lots of us got sick for a day or two and stayed in for a morning. Here's another picture of my class.
This week I ran an english class where I read them a picture book 'The Mango Baby' and asked them comprehension questions and helped them fill out their work books. We also did a lot of food vocabulary.
I had my twentieth birthday over here. I came home with Maddie after visiting some local friends (who made me the sand bottle for my birthday) and the others had put together a little suprise party for me. Gardia even fed me a piece of cake for my birthday - thanks Gardia.
I went to bed pretty early that night as I felt exhausted. The next morning I went to school and as we were standing outside for the school song my vision went pretty weird but I taught in the morning anyway and just accepted that I was dizzy and couldn't see very well. Later I checked my temp and it was 39.6. I was pretty annoyed. I was made to go to hopsital again by Lucy and Asad and I had to get a blood test to make sure i didn't have dengue fever. Two of the doctors disagreed over my results as they showed that I had some sort of infection only neither of the doctors could find it as I didn't have any other symptoms. They finally just prescribed me with some antibiotics and a few other bits and pieces and sent me on my way. I slept a lot and felt better in two days. I am hoping I don't get sick for a third time.
Thank goodness I wasn't sick for the weekend as we had another trip to an uninhabited island. Above is a picture of Thinadoo from the boat ride to the island.
Here's Mads and I enjoying the trip on the front of the boat listening to some tunes. There are stacks of fishing boats all around the Thinadoo which you can see in the background.
We had great weather again. I think it's only rained twice since we've been here. So much for the rainy season. It was so hot the boys built a little shelter so we could stay out of the sun.
And once again we had great snorkeling with loads of fish. Although there was a bit of a current and paddling around was hard work so I didn't stay out for too long. I opted to sit on the sand and cool down with some coconut juice.
